I've Got a Lid

When someone dips into our bucket and takes out some of our good energy we can be devastated. This song explores the concept of the "lid" in bucket Filling and empowers children to prevent dipping by understanding that dipping is all about the one doing the dipping.  It is a great way to initiate talking about creating healthy emotional boundaries.

I've Got a Lid

 I've got a lid

I know how to use it

I've got a bucket of love

And I don't want to lose it

If someone comes around here

Dippin' in, I refuse it

Cause I've got a lid, I've got a lid

I'm not willing for the good stuff filling my bucket to be taken

     Away from me so easily

So I start thinking 'bout the person who's sinking their dipper into my light

And when I look in their eyes, I see an empty bucket inside. That's why...

I've got a lid

And I know how to use it

I've got a bucket of love

And I don't want to lose it

If someone comes around here

Dippin' in, I refuse it

Cause I've got a lid, I've got a lid

The simple fact is, a person who dips has got a bucket that needs filling

When they dip they're tryin' to fill a hole inside 'em...  They think

They're filling their bucket, but nothing could be further from the truth

It's so clear to see it's all about them not me. That's why...

We've all got lids

We gotta learn how to use them

Cause we've got buckets of love

And we don't want to lose them

If someone comes around here

Dippin' in, we refuse them

Cause we've got lids

We've all got lids

I've got a lid

And I know how to use it

I've got a bucket of love

And I don't want to lose it

If someone comes around here

Dippin' in, I refuse it

Cause I've got a lid, I've got a lid
